On May 21, 2010 the Midstate EMS Awards Banquet was held at Vernon Downs Casino and Resort. The New Hartford Fire Department was the recipient of the "EMS Agency of the year". Presently the department has 32 EMT'S and of those 9 are paramedics and 5 more basic EMT'S are expected to graduate this spring. Last year the New Hartford Fire Department responded to 1222 calls and of those calls, 942 were EMS related. This made New Hartford the busiest volunteer fire department in Oneida County. The department has also participated in numerous EMS standbys with the Rescues in the community as well as the EMS bike team providing safety to the community during public events.
